Experiencing Oneness

A friend went for a swim in the ocean. Suddenly, as she felt the water on her skin she realized that this ‘body’ of water connects the world. It connects the beach of her native Portugal just as much as the beach of your new home in Massachusetts. She said that this insight was not a thought, not something we learn in schools, it was a revelation, a feeling. We listened to her description of what obviously was a spiritual experience and nodded. All of us have experienced satori moments like she did on that day.

We cannot think ourself into Heaven, but we can step out of our thought process. We can leave our self identification behind moment by moment. Externally, it occurs in these momentary perceptions of Oneness. Internally, it happens when we leave the story teller behind; when we feel that the voice in our head is foreign to us; when we even feel a presence behind the feeling that arose in the story teller of a moment ago. How to reach this blessed state? Well, sometimes all it takes is going for a swim
