Lavendar

 Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia)

Medicinal Uses:
*Anti-Anxiety, Antiseptic antispasmodic, bile-producing, diuretic, nervine, reduces gas, sedative, and stimulant.
Lavender is best used in aromatherapy. Either by using an infused oil, or essential oil diluted in a carrier oil for massage, or direct essential oil for steam inhalation. Can be used as a tea or tincture, however use very little. Lavender is potent a little goes a long way.

For pain use a massage oil, or salve on the area affected. Can help calm throbbing muscles, relieve arthritis pain, ease and help heal sprains and strains, and relieve back aches. The oil also contains analgesic compounds that help ease the pain from muscle related stress.
Lavender essential oil is an excellent treatment for respiratory problems. Dilute in a carrier oil, and massage on chest neck and under the nose ( use lavender sparingly, 10 drops per 1 oz of carrier oil) where it can be easily inhaled. Can also be used in a vaporizer or a pot of steaming water or in a bath. The steam will open the air passages and loosen phlegm while it kills germs that cause the infection.

Lavender also makes an excellent insect repellent. Just add a few drops of essential oil to 1 oz of witch hazel or alcohol ( vodka or other 80 proof not rubbing alcohol) into a spray bottle and spray yourself before going outside. I use a combination of Lavender, Lemongrass, and tea tree oil.
If just starting with essential oils or herbs in general, start with using only 1 herb/oil. This way if any reaction occurs you know the cause. If no reaction then go ahead and add another. Adding one at a time.
Magickal Uses:
Gender: Masculine
Planet: Mercury
Element: Air
Powers: Love, Protection, Sleep, Chastity, Longevity, Purification, Happiness, Peace
Used on Clothes, in sachet, poppet etc. Lavender attracts Love. The Scent of Lavender attracts men. Lavender can also be used in healing mixtures, whether incense, poppets, Oils. It is a great addition to any healing spell/ ritual. Used as a spray or smoldered in or on the bed ( or even added to the washer when washing the bedding) will assist with peaceful sleep.
Hope you all have a wonderful day.
